Samarkand was one of the major stops on Silk Road. In the 14th century it became the capital of the Timurid empire (founded by Tamerlane/Timur), and one of the most important and beautiful cities in Central Asia. Samarkand is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites: "The historic town of Samarkand is a crossroad and melting pot of the world's cultures. Founded in the 7th century B.C. as ancient Afrasiab, Samarkand had its most significant development in the Timurid period from the 14th to the 15th centuries. The major monuments include the Registan Mosque and madrasas, Bibi-Khanum Mosque, the Shakhi-Zinda compound and the Gur-Emir ensemble, as well as Ulugh-Beg's Observatory." Uzbekistan is home to an iconic disk-shaped bread known locally as Samarkand bread. Named after the city of Samarkand, this bread is enjoyed year-round and typically eaten at the start of every meal. Unlike most mass-produced loaves, these breads are still shaped by hand and baked inside tandoor ovens. We visited a traditional bakery on the outskirts of Samarkand to see how 15,000 of these unique loaves are made every day and what it takes to bake such big batches. Srovnávám Bucharu a Samarkand. Mauzoleum Tamerlána (Goʻri Amir) Toto už je krásně nasvícené mauzoleum Timura. Ve dne turistická atrakce a večer a večer místo setkání. Mauzoleum je budova s jednou kopulí a kryptou. Vyniká současně jednoduchostí konstrukce a monumentalitou architektury. ►Thank you to B. Hamzaev - Head of Marketing and Promotion of Uzbekistan Tourism. Check out Bekruz: 🤍 ►Check out my Samarkand Travel Guide: 🤍 ►T-shirts and caps available now: 🤍 Ravshan’s Channel: 🤍 Uzbekistan Day 4: Full historical sights and food tour of Samarkand, Uzbekistan! Samarkand is a monumental city of history and food that played a major role along the Silk Road, in between China and the Mediterranean. It’s a city of fascinating history, giant plates of plov, and incredible kebabs. Gur-e Amir Сomplex - To begin this full tour of Samarkand, we started in the morning at Gur-e Amir Сomplex, the tomb and mausoleum of Amir Timur, the founding father of Samarkand, responsible for building much of the ancient remains of the city. The tomb complex from the outside is impressive, but the inside will blow you away. Registan - There’s no square more monumental and grand in scale than Registan, the center of the ancient city. You’ll find madrasas and mosques, all of which are intricately decorated and magnificent. Siab Bazaar - A short walk from Registan is Siab Bazaar, right outside Bibi-Khanym Mosque. At the market we stopped to have tea with one of Bekruz’s friends and tasted some nuts and dried fruit. The apricot seeds were new for me, and the dried apricots were spectacular. Osh Markazi - There’s no better place to eat plov, the national dish of Uzbekistan, when you’re in Samarkand than Osh Markazi. Samarkand plov is notable for the rice being cooked in flax-seed oil with yellow carrots and beef. It was one of the best meals and dishes I had in my entire trip to Uzbekistan. Total price - 140,000 UZS ($17.17) Ulugh Beg Observatory - At its time of being built by Ulugh Beg, it was one of the most advanced and important astronomy observatories in the world. Domashnii Restaurant - We didn’t stay long at the observatory because right behind it you’ll find Domashnii Restaurant, a local restaurant that specializes in chickpeas and lamb. The dish is so comforting and both the lamb and chickpeas melt in your mouth. Price - 74,00 UZS ($9.08) Ikrom Shashlik - Next we went to eat Samarkand kebabs, again some of the best kebabs I had on my entire trip to Uzbekistan. The bull testicles and minced meat kebabs were great, but the highlight was the skewer of alternating thin lamb meat and fat. As I was leaving they told me their grill was 21 meters long and the grillmaster had been grilling there for over 20 years. Price - 7,000 UZS ($0.86) per kebab Shah-i-Zinda - At about 5 pm we arrived to Shah-i-Zinda, another masterful tomb complex that includes one of the top sights of Samarkand: the turquoise alley of tombs. The turquoise and blue mosaic will make your jaw-drop. Home-cooked dinner - Finally to end this incredible food and sights tour of Samarkand we went to a family home restaurant where we enjoyed a simple local meal in a family home courtyard. It was the perfect ending to an incredible day in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Samarkand is a city in Uzbekistan known for its mosques and mausoleums. It's on the Silk Road, the ancient trade route linking China to the Mediterranean. Prominent landmarks include the Registan, a plaza bordered by 3 ornate, majolica-covered madrassas dating to the 15th and 17th centuries, and Gur-e-Amir, the towering tomb of Timur (Tamerlane), founder of the Timurid Empire.

Welcome to my travelchannel. ☛☛☞☛ 🤍 On my channel you can find more than 1000 films of almost 80 countries. See the playlist on my youtube channel.Enjoy! Siab Bazaar, Samarkand: Visiting Samarkand and not paying a visit to Siab market means missing one of the most interesting adventures. The oriental market is a special place where you can feel a live atmosphere of the ancient city. Many years ago, bazaars served as the main strategic points on the Great Silk Road trade development. Siab Bazaar in Samarkand is one of the most interesting and ancient must see sights. Peculiarities of the Siab Bazaar Siab market is conveniently located, with the great mosque of Bibi-Khanim in only few minutes’ walk away. There is another landmark not far from the bazaar – Hazrat Khizir Mosque. The area of the market impresses with its 5 ha of trade rows. The main entrance is done in the form of a lofty three-fold arch adorned with blue mosaic. Trading rows are under tents that protect the bazaar from a burning sun in summer and from wind and rain in winter.Siab Bazaar is a dekhkan (agricultural) market; there you will mainly find vegetables and fruits grown in Uzbekistan, as well as local hand-made products. Trading rows are conditionally divided according to types of goods. Local sellers say that Siab dried fruits, sweets and nuts are so tasty that make residents of the capital city travel there for their portion. It is also possible to meet huge number and kinds of spices at the bazaar, even the rare ones. Apart from the edible products, you can buy pieces from local artisans and masters. Special attention should be given to a bread row, as Samarkand bread is a special sort of local flour product. You can see more than 17 kinds of bread at the Siab market. What is an oriental market without tasting?! there, as in any other bazaar, kind-hearted vendors will not only allow you to taste the product before purchasing, but will also insist on it. Surely, the main subtlety of the oriental bazaar is a bargaining tradition. Each buyer has a duty to trade with the seller before a purchase. The point is not about reducing the price, rather a habit that Asian dwellers have formed from the childhood. The one who shows the talent will gain in the end. Except fresh and various goods, Siab market in Samarkand has another feature – this is the place where you can find out the latest news and events happening in the city. Uzbek people are very sociable and people get involved in conversations even with strangers. After visiting this bazaar, you will dive into the atmosphere of Samarkand festivity, mystery and will be able to understand the historical city on the Great Silk road. Along with ripen fruits and hot bread; you will take with yourself a piece of oriental atmosphere that will stay with you forever.

The Registan was the heart of the ancient city of Samarkand of the Timurid Empire, now in Uzbekistan. The name Rēgistan (ریگستان) means "sandy place" or "desert" in Persian. The Registan and its three madrasahs. From left to right: Ulugh Beg Madrasah, Tilya-Kori Madrasah and Sher-Dor Madrasah. The Registan was a public square, where people gathered to hear royal proclamations, heralded by blasts on enormous copper pipes called dzharchis - and a place of public executions. It is framed by three madrasahs (Islamic schools) of distinctive Islamic architecture. The square was regarded as the hub of the Timurid Renaissance. #samarkand #tourvideos #registan
